📚 pybrary

A beautiful, vim-inspired terminal library manager built with Textual.

pybrary dashboard

pybrary is a keyboard-first library manager that lives entirely in your terminal. Grabbing a book, adding a new title or checking what is out on loan is a few keystrokes away — no mouse, no bloated UI, just a beautiful vim-inspired dashboard.

Why pybrary?

  • Keyboard-first. Every action has a binding you already know from Vim: j/k to navigate, gg/G to jump, / to search.
  • Live search. Filter the catalogue as you type, across title, author and genre.
  • Beautiful out of the box. A clean dark theme with a statistics sidebar, zebra-striped table and Nerd Font loan statuses.
  • Real persistence. Everything is stored in a portable SQLite database — carry your catalogue anywhere.
  • Charts. Turning genre data into PNG graphs is one keypress away.
